Tentative Target Dates for 2010 Aerification and Top Dressing of the Greens
Tuesday April 6th, 2010
Tuesday
September 21st, 2010
To help you better plan your golf outing at West Seattle GC please use the above dates for our top-dressing programs. The greens tend to be quite bumpy and sandy for about 4-7 days after this application.
We often get the question, "Why do you aerify the greens?" West Seattle GC anually entertains 63,000 rounds of golf per year. Under this kind of foot traffic the soil will compact so severely that water, nutrients and fertilizers can not penetrate the turf layer. The process of aerating the greens and filling the holes with sand relieves this stress on the turf and allows it to breathe and feed. It is a standard maintenance practice that all golf courses do in the Spring and Fall to promote good healthy putting surfaces during the play season.
